Beaches in Palau
Palau offers a variety of beaches easily accessible on foot. The
Porto Beach
and the
Faro Beach
are among the most frequented: the latter, in particular, is perfect when it's not too crowded, thanks to the presence of a pleasant pine forest and a bar-restaurant. Just outside the town is
La Sciumara, a larger and sandier beach, ideal for those seeking wide spaces. On the opposite side of the harbour, there are the Spiaggia dell’Isolotto and Punta Nera Beach, where dogs are allowed.

Capo d'Orso
Among the most iconic natural attractions in the area is undoubtedly the Bear Rock. This granite formation, shaped over the centuries by wind and water, has taken on the appearance of a giant standing bear. It towers over the headland, offering breathtaking views of the archipelago.

The Islands
The Maddalena Archipelago is made up of seven main islands, and there are many ways to explore them: from organised excursions to private rentals. Among the useful contacts, we recommend:
Porto Rafael
From the Observatory, you can enjoy a view that stretches across Corsica and all the surrounding islands. The marina’s little harbour is picturesque, while a walk down from the Chapel of Santa Rita leads to Piazzetta Mare, a refined meeting spot, though with high prices.

Archaeological Sites
For history and culture enthusiasts, the area of Palau is home to fascinating archaeological sites dating back to the Nuragic era. Among these, the S'Ajacciu Area, the Nuraghe Barrabisa, and the Tomb of the Giants stand out as precious remnants of the ancient Sardinian civilisation, further enriching the cultural landscape of the area.
